Three-Pronged Approach to Boost Singapore’s Smart Nation Journey

On how Singapore can manage wicked problems in the future, rather than the government coming up with detailed, prescriptive solutions, we should give the people and corporate sector a chance. The government should spend time describing the problem, sharing with talents in the community, then test, pilot and implement the solution ideas, and find ways for solution builders to make them viable and commercially sustainable.

This was mentioned by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister-in-Charge of the Smart Nation Initiative, at the Smart Nation Ambassadors Emerging Stronger Conversation and Appreciation Event on 25 September 2020.

SGTech agrees that Singapore can co-create better solutions to benefit Singaporeans and do it more effectively if we leverage the diversity of ideas and know-how already in place in the industry.

In this article, SGTech's Smart Nation Chapter advocates a three-pronged approach for the tech industry to play a more significant role in contributing to Singapore's Smart Nation journey.
